Super Rugby - Rebels vs Lions on 7 March 2020
March 7, 2020 - The match was played in Melbourne on Saturday 7 March 2020, and kicked off at 10:15 SA Time.
The home team opened the scoring when Flyhalf Matt Toomua kicked a penalty after 12 minutes to make it 3-0.
Andrew Kellaway then extended the lead when he scored the first try of the match to make it 8-0 after 18 minutes.
Ten minutes later the home team went further up when Richard Hardwick scored their 2nd try, this time converted by Toomua.
The Lions opened their account after 33 minutes in the game when wing Jamba Ulengo scored, with Elton Jantjies adding the conversion.
Just before the break Jantjies added a penalty to make the halftime score 15-10 for the Rebels.
After the break, the Rebels scored first when they created a huge overlap on the left and Isi Naisarani dotted down, converted by Toomua to make it 22-10.
The Rebels went futher into the lead when Dane Haylett-Petty scored their 4th try, converted by Toomua, to put the home team up 29-10 after 53 minutes.
Toomua added a penalty 10 minutes layter to make it 32-10.
Prop Sti Sithole scored the second try for the Lions, converted by Jantjies, to make it 32-17 after 73 minutes, but then Andrew Kellaway added his second try and the 5th for the home team to give them a 37-17 victory,
the first time that the Lions lost to the Rebels in Super Rugby.
