The kick-off in tonight’s (Wednesday) Castle Lager Lions Series match between the Cell C Sharks and the British & Irish Lions has been pushed back by one hour to 20h00 (SAT) / 19h00 (BST).

 

The delay is to accommodate the return of PCR test results from the tourists’ squad following the return of a positive test for COVID-19 among the management team, following a lateral flow test as part of the Tour screening programme which took place on Wednesday 7 July.  

 

The individual and four close contacts – including two players and two members of staff – are being isolated and assessed at the team hotel. All members of the touring party have since been PCR tested.  

 

This evening’s game against the Cell C Sharks at Emirates Airline Park will still take place provided the subsequent round of PCR testing returns negative results later today. The kick-off has been pushed back to allow for the testing process to be completed.

So sharks verloor met 47 punte, 5 meer as ons. Wonder of almal nou gaan skryf hoe swak hulle ook is (soos na ons game) of gaan dit nou ewe skielik n baie goeie B&I span wees

Dit was 'n shocking game van die Sharks en ek voel hulle was lucky om nie meer teen hulle te kry nie. Selfs van die Sharks in my familie kon skaars 20 minute van dit survive toe hulle besluit om af te skakel.

Hierdie 2 wedtryde teen die Britse Leeus, en die Bulle se verlies in Italie, sit inheemse rugby in 'n baie swak lig. Moet bygese word dat sulke swak teenstand die Britse Leeus ook kan kortwiek teen 'n volsterkte Springbok span.

Ek stem oor die swak gehalte van SA rugby, maar ek dink hierdie is 'n baie goeie leeus span en gaan die bokke ore aansit

Ek hoop jy is verkeerd Leeubok en die Bokke wen, maar ek begin ook al hoe meer besef dat hierdie 'n uitstekende B&I Leeus span is, al is hul vaste fasette nog nie 100% nie. Ek dink ons sou sukkel om hierdie span te wen selfs sonder al die issues wat COVID veroorsaak het.

Al wat ek kan sê is ek sien nou eers baie uit na daardie eerste toets!

Vir baie redes sal jy my nie sommer die Khaki's hoor ondersteun nie. Maar snaaks genoeg sal ek nie omgee as Gatland sukses behaal in een of twee wedstryde nie. Hy is soos die Pumas en Griekwas, verloor teen hom of hulle is nie lekker nie maar dit is makliker om te aanvaar as om bv teen Dobson en weepie te verloor...

Ja, hulle is klinies, en hulle vaardigheidsvlakke en besluitneming is baie goed. Wie weet, indien ons fisies oorheers en goed verdedig soos in die wereld beker einstryd, kan ons dit deurtrek. Andersins herinner dit my ietwat aan die post isolasie era "reality" skok.
