   Mongalo back at Lions family

The former Lions and Junior Springbok defence coach, Joey Mongalo, is back as a full blooded member of the Lions rugby family.

Mongalo’s contract was terminated last year after a turbulent year with a cloud of sexual misconduct hanging over his head.

Joey got the monkey off his back, so to speak, when he was acquitted on all charges.

He is back coaching with the SuperSport challenge and the juniors.

Mongalo was also visible as a member of the Wits Varsity Cup side last Monday.

He first joined the Lions in 2011 and they went on to win the national competition.

For the next four years he was the defence cosch for the Vodacom and both the junior competitions.

In 2016 he was appointed as the head coach of the Under 19s which again went on to win the competition.

In 2018 he was promoted to the SuperRugby side that lost in the final and he continued in that role last year.

He responsibilities has now changed somewhat and he will look after the attack of the SuperSport Challenge and Under 21 teams.

	Attack coach was Joey's position before he became the defence coach.
