Lions stick with tried and tested

Consistency was key for the Xerox Lions coaches who rewarded the performance of last week going into the big Carling Currie Cup clash against the Cell C Sharks at Emirates Airline Park on Saturday.

Try scorers from the previous match all got the nod and Jannie du Plessis, Willem Alberts and André Warner will get another run this week.

Two injury scares this week necessitates brackets on the team list, that being Sti Sithole and Vincent Tshituka. They have niggling injuries and will undergo late fitness tests. Should they not be cleared, Dylan Smith and Wilhelm van der Sluys will move into the starting line-up.

Back in the mix are Burger Odendaal and Jamba Ulengo who should both take to the field as impact players from the bench.

Kick-off will remain at 19:00 as no thunder and lightning are predicted at this stage.

Stem. Hoewel, ek moet se Wilhelm vd Sluys lyk self lus vir speel, en hy lyk asog hy lekker sterk kan carry.

As Vincent sy spelpeil en fiksheid kan behou, en die strafskoppe kan beperk, kan ek nie sien hoekom hy nie binnekort n bok kan word nie.

Will be great for us.

Things are looking reasonably positive. We have been improving nicely. 

The Sharks are also very inconsistent, so if we catch them on an off day, we will easily get 5 points.

Die spanne weeg baie goed teen mekaar op, op papier. Kan nie regtig sien waar die een span se spelers baie sterker as die ander span s'n is nie.

As spelers niggles het, los hul eerder om volkome te herstel. Sinneloos om hul te wil speel en 'n kans te waag. Ons span sal beslis verswak word as die 2 nie speel nie, maar langtermyn is belangriker.

As ons die konsentrasie, druk en intensiteit op verdediging kan hou soos laasweek sal ons wen.
