After 7 years with the Lions, initially as an Assistant Coach and thereafter as Head Coach, Swys de
Bruin will part with the Lions Rugby Company (Pty) Ltd. This decision is mutual, and both Lions
Rugby Company (Pty) Ltd. and Swys de Bruin have parted ways amicably.

“Swys has made a ground breaking contribution in the style of play and attacking patterns to the
Team whereby memorable tries have been scored at Emirates Airline Park. On behalf of the
management, players, and supporters we thank him and wish him well in his future endeavours”
comments Rudolf Straeuli.

During his tenure the Lions won the Vodacom Cup in 2013, the Currie Cup in 2015 and reached the
Vodacom Super Rugby finals is 2016, 2017 and 2018.

“It was an unbelievable 7 years with the Lions family. Thank you to everyone who made it special
and memorable. I pray for the team to receive God’s blessings. The Lions will always have a special
place in my heart, and always remember as a Team we play to score tries and inspire people by the
way we play” concludes Swys de Bruin.

Lions Rugby Company (Pty) Ltd. will proceed with an internal process and will consult with SA Rugby
as well as other Stakeholders in the appointment of a successor.

Ek dink ons almal het dit verwag maar gehoop hy sou in die agtergrond bly.....Sien ook op FB dat Bart Schoeman Gaan ,dankie gese vir alles en almal....

Hoop maar ons kry iemand van buite weet nie of Cash al reg is vir SR nie?

Stem, en as hy n ander span gaan afrig, moet ons maar weet ons gaan weer n klomp spelers verloor, wat hom gaan volg.

Mens moet maar nooit te geheg aan afrigters en spelers raak nie, dis verseker dat hulle kom en gaan, dis altyd maar net 'n kwessie van tyd. Iets wat vir my 'n effense probleem is, is dat daar nie tans regtig 'n speler in ons groep is wat vir my 'n "hero" is nie. Jaco Kriel was die laaste een...Marx is seker die naaste daaraan, maar hy speel nie Curriebeker nie, en gaan mos ook Super Rugby mis in 2020

Ek hoop net ons kry iemand wat kan voortbou op wat Ackers en Swys begin het, en nie iemand wat weer n totale anderster spelpatroon probeer afdwing nie. Heyneke Meyer is byvoorbeeld n ou wat nie naby Ellispark toegelaat moet word nie.

@Valie, daar was 'n tyd toe Heyneke Meyer in die running was om die Leeus af te rig, maar sy ondersteuning span was te groot en die Leeus kon dit nie bekostig nie

Was ook beindruk wat Brent vermag het met die die Griekwas voorspelers, veral hulle ondersteunende spel en dryfmaal bewegings. Dink dat Cash van Rooyen en Warren Whiteley weet wat dit vat om 'n span tot 'n eindstryd te bring, maar verder is ons assistent afrigters maar uiters onbeproef en nat agter die ore.

Meeste van ons het van Swys gehou, maar ons spel het stagneer of selfs agteruit gegaan. 

Dat hy wel waardevol was as hulpaftigter en analis is onmeetbaar.

Baie dankie vir als en alles van die beste, veral met die gesondheid.

Ek kan nie sien hoe Stonehouse van veel waarde vir ons kan wees nie. Onder hom het die Pumas amper hulle CC status verloor, en dan het hy altyd n klomp verskonings na die tyd, terwyl Griekwas, met n kleiner budget onder Brent eintlik baie goed gedoen het.
