Ockie Oosthuizen, wat in 3 seisoene van 1982 tot 1984 vir Transvaal gespeel het, is oorlede. Hy het in 45 wedstryde vir Transvaal gespeel, en was ook kaptein in al 45 wedstryde

Former Springbok prop Ockie Oosthuizen dies

Former Springbok prop Ockie Oosthuizen has passed away at the age of 64.

Oosthuizen had battled colon cancer for the past view months.

He made his Test debut against Ireland at Newlands in 1981 and went on to play nine Tests, with his final international coming against England at Ellis Park in 1984.

The burly former front-ranker was captain of Transvaal and also represented Western Transvaal and Northern Transvaal during his playing days.

He spent his final years living in Stellenbosch and owned the wine farm, Molenvliet.

Tributes have started to pour in on social media

Former Bok prop Ockie has died


Former Springbok and Transvaal prop Ockie Oosthuizen passed away at the age of 64 early this morning.

Oosthuizen had battled colon cancer for the past few months. Tributes started to pouring in as the news of the former Springboks’ passing emerged.

Oosthuizen had nine test caps and his final international was at Ellis Park against England in 1984.

The strong front-ranker was captain of Transvaal and also represented Western Transvaal and Northern Transvaal during his playing days. He spent his final years living in Stellenbosch and owned the wine farm, Molenvliet.

Ek was nog 'n laaitie, maar was dit nie Ockie wat met so krom rug geskrum het nie? Vrek sterk gewees?
